Things to Know About Split-Testing Your Landing Page

By Amparo Dillon

Split-testing your landing page will help you in more than one way when it comes down to boosting your conversion rate and getting the most out of it. There are so many reasons to test the different elements of your landing page but the most important reason of all is that each time you run a test you learn more about your landing page and what makes it get the job done for you. You need to make sure that you are consistently applying what you learn from your split-testing on your current landing page because it helps improve your future results. Here are a few of the easy to understand hints and tips that you can put to use and make your split-testing more effective than it has been before.

A good place to get started is with the addition of any logos from credible organizations to your page. It's a fact that when you sign up with services like the Better Business Bureau (BBB), you can increase your conversion rate because people trust such organizations. So sign up for a variety of these kinds of organizations and then put their badges on your landing page. Before you can add them permanently, though, test them out on your page to see what sort of a response you will get from them. If you see an improved conversion rate, you should keep the images up on your page, if you don't, the images are just clutter and not helping you.

Experiment with your headlines' colors on the landing page to see if changing it will make any real difference. There are going to be times when you will see that just changing the color of your headline to something bright will help you get more attention and other times when subtle and soothing colors are a better idea. You get to make the final decision about which colors are best for your headlines but it is also important to take your split testing results under advisement as they will tell you lots of things you need to know.

Did you know that you can change the color of your scroll bar? It is possible and just by changing it to another color you can see your conversion rates go up. There are lots of smaller factors like this that are not all that significant but when you change them, it's possible to raise or lower your conversion rates as well. The same goes for things like where you put your opt-in box, the graphics on your e-cover, and more. It's important to make sure that you aren't ignoring even the tiniest things that could increase your rates. It's important to do heavy split testing to make sure that you have the best long term results possible.

Once you start getting a higher conversion rate your landing page, you'll see for yourself how making a few small changes here and there can make a big difference. Split-testing is an old concept but you don't see it done by many IMers these days. But keep in mind that, without carrying out regular split-tests on your landing pages, you won't be able to improve your conversion rate. So put these tips into action and see what kind of results they yield.
